Registry Partners attended the Ohio Cancer Registrars Association Annual Meeting, September 19th and 20th in Perrysburg, Ohio.
The conference included several wonderful speakers which included Melissa Riddle, CTR, Dr. John Nemunaitis, Dr. Francis Charles Brunicardi, and Dr. Kerri Simo. The speakers provided an enormous amount of information on a variety of topics that the attendees will be able to put into practice in their registries.
One of the presentations given by Melissa Riddle, CTR focused on Tackling Radiation in 2018+. She provided a review of the new coding rules and walked the attendees through several case scenarios. The case scenarios covered several different sites such as Breast, Prostate, and Thyroid. These were examples of cases as registrars we see every day and struggle with how to properly code the radiation treatment. The information was extremely helpful and will be used when working on my next abstract.
During one of the scheduled breaks, the New CTR Recognition was held. From Summer 2018 to Spring 2019 Ohio welcomed 29 new CTR’s. We are excited to have so many new faces join our field.
Registry Partners raffled off a Visa Gift card and the lucky winner (pictured below) was Anne Andrako. Anne had paid her own registration including travel expenses and stated the gift card she won would help with the overall expenses. Congratulations, Anne!
