Cancer Registrars Regional Conference
The Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and D.C. Regional Meeting was held in Williamsburg, VA, October 11th and 12th 2018. As you can imagine, the meeting had an agenda packed with 2018 updates, AJCC 8th edition staging, grade and SSDI education.
In a profession that is changing right before our eyes, we appreciate any and all of the education we can get. With every meeting, webinar, presentation we listen to, we learn something new and valuable. All of the presentations included in this year’s conference were great, but there is one that really stuck out. It was completely unrelated to the 2018 changes and very refreshing.
This specific presentation was an eye opener to the fact that there is a leader in every one of us and we can all be an influencer whether it is related to our personal or professional life. Some of the major talking points from the presentation are outlined below and some very meaningful quotes included in the presentation.

- 5 conflict handling modes. Don’t overuse or underuse any of these modes. You need to be able to use every one. It is a true balancing act:
- Competing
- Collaborating
- Compromising
- Avoiding
- Accommodating
