Registry Partners enjoyed attending the VPS User Conference. There were 50 speakers and 40 presentations over the 3-night, 4-day conference held at the beautiful Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee. The conference “kicked off” on Thursday with a reception hosted by Registry Partners where colleagues and friends could take the time to mingle and have some fun! There was a Western themed photo booth as well as some native Nashville delicacies: corn dogs, tater tots, and sliders! Yee-Haw – it was fun y’all!

On Friday, the conference was in full swing with presentations focused on sharing the VPS data in our institutions and using the data to drive decisions in all aspects of pediatric critical care:

  • Clinical
  • Quality
  • Research
  • Financial
  • Strategic planning

Topics included:

  • “Understanding Severity of Illness”
  • “Getting the Biggest Bang for your Buck with VPS Data”
  • “Leveraging VPS’s Granularity for QA & Performance Improvement”
  • “Using Data to Solve Complexity at the Point of Care Delivery”

The keynote presentation, “Leaders Inspire Change – Data is Key” was given by Dr. Richard Brilli, Chief Medical Officer, from Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The conference ended on Sunday with sessions focusing on emerging best practices gained from VPS based research, collaboratives, analytics, and the future of VPS.

Our very own Registry Partners Pediatric Team was part of the fun as well! Becky White, Executive Registry Director, presented “Making Yourself the VPS Expert, An Invaluable Resource”. Becky paired up with Stacy Gehm, Senior Registry Services Director, presented “Top 10 Challenges of a Site Coordinator: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”. Stacy also received recognition for earning her certification from VPS University and shared her experience during one of the sessions. Our participation in the conference continued with a presentation by Pamela Marshall, Registry Services Director, highlighting the work of the VPS Quality Council as well as a poster presentation by our very own Gloria Arnold, Registry Services Director titled “Does an Antimicrobial Time Out Impact the Duration of Usage of Antimicrobials in the PICU”.

Along the way, Registry Partners was happy to award many prizes. One lucky winner of a $50 Visa gift card was Cindy Bowens (pictured below) from Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Thank you to all the conference attendees and organizers for such a rewarding and successful conference!
