Career Growth Matters: Staying Motivated in Healthcare

Marketing Manager

Few people are content with simply surviving in the workplace; they want to feel like they are making a difference, seeing progress, and being recognized with opportunities for career growth. When Mandi Kraushaar sensed she had hit a wall in terms of growth and learning as a certified cancer registry professional at her local hospital, she began considering other job opportunities.

A former co-worker had told her about Registry Partners, so Kraushaar decided to look into the opportunities. She began work as a certified tumor registrar (CTR) three years ago, and today, after two promotions, Kraushaar is a Project Director for the Oncology Division, coordinating registry work at multiple hospitals.

“At Registry Partners, I’ve been encouraged to broaden my knowledge and learn more about cancer registry processes and management,” says Kraushaar. “The support has been awesome. I’ve never felt like I was alone or had to figure out something by myself.”

Flexibility to Work Remotely

Since Registry Partners team members work remotely from home, the job was a perfect fit when Kraushaar’s husband, who is in the Air Force, was deployed. “We live pretty far from family, and I wanted to be close to them when my husband was deployed. I was able to pick up my home office and move it to my parent’s house,” explains Kraushaar.

Contributing to Quality Research

“I’ve been so impressed with the commitment Registry Partners has to quality data,” says Kraushaar. “Our data is used in cancer research, so it’s very important to produce quality data. The process makes sure we are collecting and recording information in the same manner and includes checks for accuracy.”

The Perfect Balance

Kraushaar has been very happy with the work-life balance she has found at Registry Partners. She is able to structure her work week so that she can go the gym during lunch, work later in the evenings, and often take Friday afternoons off. In addition, she and her husband have had plenty of time to camp and hike with their two dogs. They’ve also been able to travel, and last summer made the journey to the Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

“I’m able to turn off work and enjoy the rest of my life,” says Kraushaar. “Some days I can’t believe this is my job.”
