This day has been designated as National Kick Butts Day to bring attention to the fact that tobacco is the world’s leading cause of preventable death.

According to the KickButtsDay.org website, tobacco has killed 100 million people in the 20th century and if trends continue it will kill one billion people in the 21st century. This means that 1 in every 10 adults will die from a health related issue caused by tobacco.

Not only is the use of tobacco deadly for those who use it, it is also incredibly harmful to others who breathe in secondhand smoke.  Secondhand smoke kills 600,000 innocent people worldwide each year which includes 165,000 children!

National Kick Butts Day was created to bring awareness to people worldwide to “kick the habit” of using tobacco.  Please encourage your friends, colleagues and loved ones around you about the dangers of using tobacco and for any that are already using tobacco, encourage them to STOP and Kick the Butts for good! Help them realize they are shortening their lifespan and possibly the lifespan of those around them by continuing their habit.
