Registry Partners enjoyed attending the WCRA/MCRA Regional Education Conference. The majority of focus for this year’s conference centered around the 2018 updates as we heard from Louanne Currence, RHIT, CTR, who was able to shed some light on the changes, adding some humor about some of the issues and concerns with the 2018 changes.

Another speaker, Lisa Prell, MS, RD, CD, from Aspirus Regional Cancer Center, spoke about dietary needs of cancer patients. Lisa expressed that maintaining a healthy body weight may be the most important lifestyle factor to reduce cancer risk. In the effort to reduce the risk of cancer, Lisa stated that it’s not just about losing the weight, but also being able to keep it off long term. In order to do this, and be successful at it, a lifestyle change is needed.

Other presentations consisted of:

  • Update on HPV Positive Head and Neck Cancers by Christopher Platta, MD from Aspirus Regional Cancer Center
  • Emerging Topics in Cancer Care by Christopher Peterson, MD from Aspirus Regional Cancer Center
  • Endoscopic Ultrasound and Its Use in Malignancy by Eric Johnson, MD from Gastrointestinal Associates, S.C.
  • Genetics of Breast Cancer, Going Beyond BRCA Mutations by Rachel Hoyord, MS from Aspirus Genetics Program
