RECAP: NCAHQ Conference

Last week, the Registry Partners Quality Division attended the NCAHQ conference in Durham, NC.  In addition to being an exhibitor, we sponsored a stuffed animal drive for the local emergency responders.  On Friday, the Fire Chief from Durham stopped by to receive the 4- 60 gallon bags full of stuffed animals collected over the two day conference.  The animals will be used by emergency responders to give comfort to children during an emergency situation.

One conference attendee spoke to her fellow attendees about why this drive was so important to her.  As a single mother, she received a call at work that her home was on fire -and her children were home.  She rushed home to find her children safe, but her home severely damaged.  The fireman on the scene told the children that they could only get one thing out of the house and asked what they would like.  In unison, all the children said “pooh bear.”  The youngest child’s pooh bear was her favorite possession and the only way she could sleep at night…several pooh bears were donated during the drive and we hope that they will serve as a comfort for those children in the future who are not lucky enough to be able to get their own pooh bear back.

We would like to thank the North Carolina Association of Hospital Quality for allowing us to exhibit and sponsor this wonderful stuffed animal drive which is now set to be a permanent part of the annual conference.
