Submitted by Leoma Berroreran, RN, BSN, Registry Services Director for Registry Partners – Tony Summerlin, Director of Business Development and I had the opportunity to attend the Saint Rita’s Medical Center 18th Annual Cardiovascular Symposium presented by Saint Rita’s Center for Continuing Education and Mercy Health. Tony and I manned the vendor booth and provided conference attendees, as well as speakers, a wealth of information about Registry Partners. Symposium attendees consisted of nursing, quality staff and physicians.

Saint Rita’s symposium covered a multitude of cardiac topics including:

  • Heart Failure
  • Structural Heart: ASD and PFO
  • TAVR
  • Atrial Fibrillation
  • PCI
  • Peripheral Vascular Disease

All of these topics were very interesting and educational. The highlight of the presenters was Dr. Sandeep Patel, MD.  He spoke on the topic of TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement). During his presentation, Dr. Patel introduced two of his post-TAVR patients.  It was amazing to review the patients’ pre-procedure case scenarios and visualize and listen to them talk about the procedure and how having a TAVR procedure changed their lives for the better in a very short amount of time.

Tony and I had the pleasure of meeting many people and presented a $50 Visa Gift Card as a raffle prize to our lucky winner, Joanna Wessell (pictured below).  Congratulations Joanna!

I have had the privilege of attending several of Saint Rita’s cardiac conferences over the years and I am always impressed by the wealth of information and the hospitality they provide. I look forward to attending additional symposiums in the future.
