Registry Partners had the pleasure of attending the Cleveland Clinic Cardiac Registry and Analytics Boot Camp at the Intercontinental Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio on November 14-16, 2018.

The Cardiac Boot Camp provided information and clarification on topics related to the:

  • Society of Thoracic Surgeons Registry
  • National Cardiovascular Data Registries
    • CathPCI
    • ICD
    • Chest Pain/MI
    • LAAO
    • TVT

Each day started off with a Key Note physician speaker. The speakers are Physician Champions within the departments of Cardiovascular Surgery, Interventional Cardiology and Electrophysiology.  Each Physician Champion spoke about the importance of and techniques to engage physicians in the capture of data and what the analytics mean for your institution.

The speakers discussed public reporting of data and the impact reporting can have in today’s health care market.

Each day provided attendees a specific track which included STS or NCDR registries. Each track covered clinical topics including:

  • Case Studies and Abstractions
  • Fundamentals of Registry Abstraction
  • Abstraction Best Practices
  • Data Validation
  • Quality Reporting

One of the STS tracks provided a group study and abstraction of a thoracic case. One of the NCDR tracks for CathPCI provided a case study and abstraction for the new Version 5.0. Another NCDR track covered the NCDR ICD registry and the decision to remain enrolled in NCDR now that enrollment is not mandatory.

The Cardiac Registry and Analytics Boot Camp was organized by Cleveland Clinic Faculty including Nurses, Data Registry Managers, System Analysts and Data Registry Coordinators. This collective group of individuals brought knowledge and practical information to the sessions as well as making the sessions interactive. A special thanks to Cleveland Clinic for organizing this great event.
