Published/Updated Date: December 6, 2021

Registry Partners recently had the honor of attending the 2021 GATRA State Education Meeting ‘Reunited and It Feels So Good’, November 8th through 10th at Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club in Cordele, Georgia. The conference provided a wide variety of learning objectives and kicked off with keynote speaker Sonya Yeager, Pearlman Cancer Center Social Worker. Sonya’s presentation, “Resilience in the Midst of Challenging Times”, focused on the changes that came our way during COVID, being resilient, adapting to working from home, and maintaining healthy work/life boundaries.

In addition to Sonya being the keynote speaker, Monday was a day filled with a variety of topics to include updates from Rana Bayakly, Chief Epidemiologist, at Georgia Cancer Registry. Rana provided information on data completeness, updates on GCR ECHO, and cancer data review. Additional topics presented throughout the day included E-Path/Central Registry, Breast Solid Tumor Rules, the future of the cancer registry using technology to ease our workload, 2022 ICD-O-3.2 histology code & behavior update, and understanding reportable vs non-reportable pathology.

Tuesday and Wednesday were just as educational with speakers providing information on precision medicine, neoadjuvant data items, SSDI, new CoC Standards, NCCN Guidelines, and common coding errors to name a few.

Monday evening a GATRA Social with dinner was provided which gave participants time to unwind and catch up with each other and play some BINGO!  Tuesday evening a paint party was provided to those who registered. A good time was had by all that attended.

Registry Partners was honored to be a part of ‘Reunited and It Feels So Good’. Jamie Heber from GCCS was the winner of our raffle for a $100 VISA gift card. We were happy to meet with so many participants and be a part of the GATRA educational conference.
