Plan ahead for National Wear Red Day. Find your favorite red shirt and wear it on Friday, February 1st, to raise awareness for women’s heart health.

Do you know your results of the 5 important tests below that will help your healthcare provider monitor your heart health?  

  • Total Cholesterol
  • HDL (good) Cholesterol
  • Blood Pressure
  • Blood Sugar
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)

Numbers 1-4 above are lab tests your doctor can order and it is very easy to check your BMI by visiting this link. Be sure to request these lab tests if your doctor doesn’t automatically check them at the time of your next annual exam.  

According to the Go Red for Women website, Cardiovascular disease kills 1 women every 80 seconds in the United States. But 80% of cardiac related issues may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes.  

Most women think cancer is the leading cause of death in women, but heart disease kills more women than all cancers combined.
