The Drug Enforcement Agency encourages people nationwide to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday, April 28th, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at participating locations across the United States. To identify a location near your home, click here.
With drug abuse being a mainstay in the news, please consider doing your part to ensure unused prescription drugs are being disposed of in the proper way. The Drug Enforcement Agency shared the results of a 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health which concluded “6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs. The study showed that the majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet”.
The DEA’s National Take Back event provides an opportunity for all Americans to prevent misuse of prescription drugs that so often result in drug addiction and overdose.
Back in October, 2017 the DEA held another National Take Back event which resulted in a staggering 912,305 pounds or 456 tons of unused prescription drugs being turned in nationwide. Do your part … make sure your unused medication is not contributing to the drug crisis running rampant in our society.
