CTR Coding Break – STORE Manual 2022 New Breast Data Items

Oncology Coding Break

Published/Updated Date: April 28, 2022

The April 2022 CTR Coding Break titled STORE Manual 2022 New Breast Data Items discusses the definitions and details of four new data fields related to breast surgeries. Rx Hosp data fields are for this facility only while Rx Summ data fields are for any facility. These four data items are collected for breast cases diagnosed from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022. If the breast case is diagnosed in any year except for 2022 OR if the case is not a breast primary, the data item should be left blank. Reconstruction is only recorded if it immediately follows resection on the same day. Rx Hosp – Surg Breast & Rx Summ – Surg Breast are 4 digit fields using 3 numbers and a leading letter B. Rx Hosp – Recon Breast & Rx Summ – Recon Breast are 4 digit fields using 3 numbers and a leading letter A. The four surgical breast data fields are field study items in preparation for possible future 2023 site-specific disease items.
