CTR Coding Break – 2023 Overview of Changes

Oncology Coding Break

Published/Updated Date: January 23, 2023

This month’s CTR Coding Break topic is “The 2023 Overview of Changes”.

2023 is a big year for major changes to nearly all manuals utilized for the abstraction of cancer cases by State, CoC and/or SEER reporting facilities. In this presentation, we discuss the primary seven manuals: AJCC 9th Editions, Grade Manual, Solid Tumor Rules, ICD-O-3.2, STORE Manual, SSDI Manual and the SEER Program Coding and Staging Manual and the major changes that apply for each in the 2023 reporting year. Together we review the new codes, changes to existing codes, deleted data items, changes in reportability, histology and behavior, and the new additions for coding and abstracting. Attendees will leave this presentation with a better understanding of the 2023 changes and how to apply these changes for their reporting facilities.

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us live this month and click here if you’d like to download this presentation as a PDF.
