Consultant Spotlight: Jessica Miller, RHIT, CTR

Jessica has worked with Registry Partners as a full-time Project CTR since August of 2011 and has demonstrated abstracting excellence over the last 4 years in her position as a Project CTR before her promotion to QC Manager in January of this year.

Prior to joining Registry Partners, Jessica began working in the cancer registry field as a Tumor Registrar at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA for a year before accepting a position with Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA as Cancer Data Registrar; both facilities were CoC accredited cancer programs.  Other experience that helped prepare her for her cancer registry career included a Research Technician position with Emory University in Atlanta, GA and a Lab Analyst with Analytical Services, Inc. in Norcross, GA.

Jessica earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Clayton State University in Morrow, GA and her Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Information Technology from DeVry University in Decatur, GA.

Jessica is a member of the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA), presently serving as a mentor for the association as well as the Georgia Tumor Registrars Association (GATRA) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Jessica presently resides in McDonough, GA.  She enjoys music, reading, ballet, painting, photography and spending time with her parents, two sisters and nephew.

 

Q & A with Jessica:

Q:     How did you become aware of the CTR profession and what did you do to prepare for the CTR certification?

A:     I became aware of the CTR profession after researching new career opportunities. I discovered that cancer registry was a specialization within medical records. I developed and executed a plan that allowed me to work in the cancer registry, so that I could gain experience and meet the requirements to sit for the CTR exam.

 

Q:     What do you enjoy most about working for Registry Partners?

A:     The support system that RPI provides and the dedication of my coworkers.
